Frequently Asked Questions

Explore common questions about accommodation, daily supports and finding an arrangement that fits your goals.

What support is included in Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
SIL provides daily support in a shared home. Depending on your needs, this may include personal care, meals, household tasks, medication support and building independent living skills.
How is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) different from SIL?
SDA refers to purpose-built housing for eligible participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs; SIL refers to support with daily living. We do not build SDA homes, but can help explore housing options and coordinate in-home supports.
When might Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) be suitable?
MTA may provide temporary housing while you wait for an approved long-term home to become available, including during a transition from hospital or aged care. Daily supports can be arranged to help maintain continuity of care.
What is Short Term Respite (STR), also known as STA?
STR offers a short stay with accommodation and tailored support, such as personal care, meals and activities. It can provide a change of routine for participants and a break for informal carers; it is not intended as a holiday.
Can Individualised Living Options (ILO) include living alone?
Yes. ILO can be designed around living alone, with a housemate or with other chosen supports. We work with you and your support network to plan a combination of paid and unpaid supports that suits your goals.
Can I use drop-in supports or change my support arrangements over time?
Drop-in visits can help with tasks such as meal preparation, medication prompts, errands and wellbeing check-ins. Support hours and tasks can also be reviewed as your needs change. NDIS funding and eligibility depend on your individual plan and circumstances.
